Itinerary | DAY 01: ARRIVE COLOMBO – CITY TOUR
Your tour to Srilanka starts with arrival at the capital city, Colombo. Transfer to a hotel and our representative will guide you on a tour of Colombo city. Colombo is the financial capital of Srilanka and offers unlimited tourist attractions. During the tour you can visit ancient historical colonial buildings steeped in culture and heritage including the Bandarainaike Memorial International Conference Hall, Wolvendhal Dutch Church, Independence Square, Convention Center, National Museum, to name a few. Colombo is also famous for its lively markets and bazaars such as the Pettah Bazaar where you can indulge in some exciting shopping. Also, you can pay a visit to the Hindu and Buddhist temples to get a glimpse of the local religious traditions and beliefs. Overnight stay at the hotel. DAY 02: COLOMBO – KITULGALA – NUWARA ELIYA After breakfast, embark on a promising drive to Kitulgala from Colombo. Unwind at the scenic river Kelani flowing through Kitulgala where the Oscar winning movie, The Bridge on the River Kwai was shot. While at Kitulgala, pay a visit to the pre-historic cave belonging to an un-identified civilization which was recently discovered. From here, proceed to Nuwara Eliya, which is a beautiful hill resort blessed with some of the best tea plantations in the world. Besides, Pidurutalagala, one of the world’s highest mountain ranges and the 18 holes golf course considered to be the finest in Asia are located here. Overnight stay at a hotel in Nuwara Eliya. DAY 03: NUWARA ELIYA – KANDY After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, on the way to Kandy, stop at the Tea Plantation and see how tea leaves are processed, packaged and readied for international markets. Also, do not miss an opportunity to taste the exotic piping hot tea prepared here. Subsequent to your memorable tour of the well organised tea gardens, proceed to Kandy, the cultural capital where a host of traditions, cultures and folklores are kept alive through colourful festivals and rituals. In Kandy, visit the Kandy Lake and the Kandy town with its various bazaars. In the evening, visit the famous Temple of Tooth Relic and witness the cultural show. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kandy. DAY 04: KANDY – PINNAWALA – COLOMBO After breakfast at the hotel, ready yourself for the drive back to Colombo. Enroute to Colombo, we have one of the most endearing surprises for you in Pinnawala. Pinnawala is fast emerging as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Srilanka, where a scientific captive breeding programme for elephants started by the help of local and foreign experts is underway and is proving to be very successful. You can visit herds of elephants inside the park and after spending thrilling moments with the adorable Jumbos, you can continue the drive to Colombo. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Colombo. DAY 05: DEPART COLOMBO After breakfast at the hotel, checkout and proceed to the airport to board your return flight with fascinating memories of the charming island of Srilanka. |
